Empire Beauty School Presidential Leadership Award Presented to Lakeland Graduate
Lisa Gibbs recently graduated from Empire Beauty School in Lakeland, FL, and like so many others, making it through the program as a single, working mom was anything but easy.
“There were many times when I wanted to quit,” says Lisa. “I would go into Kristin’s (Smith) office and just cry. Between my car breaking down, my kids getting sick and almost losing my house, it was a struggle.” But throughout the program, Vice President of Admissions, Kristin Smith and Career Planning Specialist Carmen Alicea were there to get Lisa through.
Despite what seemed like never ending struggles, Lisa graduated in early April and is now employed at Hair Cuttery in Lakeland, Florida.
The former Dollar General manager says she finally sees a bright future for her family. “My kids got me through the tough times. I knew I needed to do this to make a better life for all of us.”
In April, Lisa was presented with Empire’s Presidential Leadership Award. Lisa and her two children (Emily (14) and Emet (7)) were honored at Empire’s Home Office in Pottsville, PA.
“This is a true success story I am happy to celebrate,” says Christopher Wargo. “We have thousands of students just like Lisa, doing the best they can to reach their dream. It’s why we do what we do, and it’s how we change people’s lives.”
