Candace Robles is an Assistant Director at Empire Beauty School who remains active in the beauty industry freelancing for Smashbox. Robles recently reached her two years with Empire Beauty School, beginning her journey as a Career Planning Specialist and then being promoted to Assistant Director.
Robles has been freelancing for different brands for almost 12 years, working for a variety of companies. She has freelanced for Smashbox for the past 3 years, winning Highest Sales Per Hour each year, and being recognized on a national level.
“This achievement means so much to me! I love helping people, and being in an industry where I can make people feel beautiful. I love meeting goals. I love seeing my hard work pay off through the effort I put through. It’s an awesome accomplishment and feels great to be recognized for something I love. I got into freelancing because I have a passion for making people feel beautiful and feeling confident.”
Robles provides sales and event support through Smashbox as well as educational advice.
“Estée Lauder is a cosmetics company that Smashbox is a brand of. They have a freelance team in each state for each brand, consisting of 1-5 people in the state. They go out to all the doors they have products in such as Ulta, Sephora, and Nordstrom. We are the guest artists that day and help educate on products. We help with sales and business development plans. We help build their goals, create events, and help them meet their sales goals. We offer sales support for the stores we are in.”
As we all know, the holiday season is the best time for gifting! Smashbox hosts sales contests for the holidays, challenging their teams to reach their goals.
“We have sales contests every year around holiday times. We’re always pushing ourselves to the limit with those goals. I try to kick into high gear during this time.”
After winning this award three years in a row, Robles feels proud of herself.
“This advances my professional career because it proved to me that I can set goals and achieve them, continuing to move forward. It’s an inspiring moment for me to understand that I can do it.”
For some people, beauty has been a desired field since they were young. For Robles, she joined the beauty industry unintentionally.
“I joined the beauty industry by accident, it wasn’t a goal of mine. When I was 18, I needed a job in college and I’ve always loved art. I enjoyed doing makeup on myself. I started working part-time in makeup for Bare Minerals. I found a passion in it and decided that it would be my path moving forward. I’ve received great opportunities and done a lot of traveling for them. It’s been an amazing turn of events in my career. I love the beauty industry because it’s a place where we can do what we’re passionate about and give back at the same time.”
With these accomplishments, Robles discusses where she would like her future to lead her. Of course, that path continues at Empire Beauty School.
My long-term goal is to become a director with Empire Beauty School. It’s one of the most beautiful experiences being in this environment. The staff at my school is absolutely incredible. It made me inspired to want to move up in this type of setting.
