Looking for fresh tips, new trends, or have a pressing beauty question? You can now turn to Empire’s Style Council as your ‘one-stop-expertise-shop’. Each member is an admired beauty expert in their respective field of beauty, including; hairstyling, hair coloring, makeup artistry, nail design and barbering. These experts are teaching and training the beauty stars of tomorrow the newest and most advanced techniques of today.
Heading up the team is esteemed celebrity stylist and cosmetology industry leader, Nick Arrojo who has worked for Vidal Sassoon, Wella and Bumble + Bumble. (Nick also leads Empire’s Master of Beauty program, an advanced education program that gives licensed cosmetologists the confidence and the techniques they need to take their career to the next level.)
“Style is the innate sense of knowing HOW THINGS FIT TOGETHER, and having the CONFIDENCE and CONVICTION TO EXPRESS it in one’s actions, image and the work we produce.”
Joining Nick on the Style Council are Marc Galgay, Lindsey Watts, Yvette Caballero and La Sonya Gunter all of whom are Artistic Advisors for Empire Beauty Schools.
Marc Galgay is a member of Cosmetology Educators of America, National Association of Barbers and Cosmetologists and his past experience includes a stint as Academic Director & Creative Director for Regis Salons. Marc truly believes your sense of beauty never changes but how you achieve it does.
“Style is the OUTWARD expression of each person’s INNER SENSE OF AESTHETICS.”
Lindsey Watts’ passion for the beauty industry is fueled by the desire to make others feel beautiful – inside and out. She calls herself an “information junkie”, who loves pulling out her arsenal of knowledge. She takes pride in watching her students and clients take their style to the next level by using the tips and tricks she shares with them.
“Anyone can wear the latest trend, but finding your style is finding your VOICE, IDENTIFIABLE, AND PERSONAL. Style expresses WHO YOU ARE.”
La Sonya Gunter is a makeup educator at Empire’s Manhattan School and is affiliated with several major makeup lines, including M.A.C. cosmetics, Maybelline and NARS. She also works as a makeup artist for many Broadway productions and shows.
“Style is about PERSONALITY and INDIVIDUALITY…taking trends, mixing in vintage, adding that new color you have to have. It’s the personal spin that MAKES YOUR STYLE UNIQUE.”
Yvette Caballero enjoys sharing with others her belief that beauty doesn’t have to be expensive-when you have the knowledge to keep it up at home! She loves using beauty as a way to uplift people’s spirits and make them feel special and confident.
“Style is the ULTIMATE form of daily SELF EXPRESSION.”
Just recently Empire Education Group and Arrojo teamed up for the next Trend Release, shot in New York City at trendy Chelsea Piers. This newest collection was designed by Arrojo, along with members of Empire’s new “Style Council”. During the shoot, more than 40 beauty editors and bloggers from national publications like American Salon, Modern Salon, Marie Claire and Lucky, just to name a few, were invited to take a sneak peek at the Trend Release and meet the “Style Council” members
Arrojo spoke briefly about some of the trends that are coming up and how he has incorporated these looks in his new trend release. According to Arrojo, the hottest trends right now are Hair Painting and Texture. “We will see more funkier, bolder and stronger colors that is painted through the hair; there is going to be more texture and movement and when it comes to hair cutting, haircuts will be layered internally.” Arrojo said.
With the launch of the Empire Style Council, Nick, Marc, Lindsey, La Sonya and Yvette are now available for instructional how-to’s, insider tips and tricks, and trend forecasting – as well as any additional expert needs. Also, additional tips will be posted on our Facebook page so make sure you stay tuned.
