Student Spotlight: Regis’s Unleash the Beauty of Potential Scholarship

Recent Empire Beauty School Standale graduate, Yecenia Canales receives Regis’s Unleash the Beauty of Potential scholarship in the amount of $5,000. Canales graduated in June of 2022 with perfect attendance.

Jamie Suarez, Regis Senior Vice President Merchandising and Education, states:

As a top performer among the Empire student body, it is clear that Yecenia is a talented, dedicated student with a very bright future ahead of her. We are very proud of Yecenia for her accomplishments and wish her much success and a very fulfilling career as a Cosmetologist. Please extend our heartfelt congratulations to Yecenia for this impressive achievement.

Canales mentioned that she has always had a passion for facials, which is what interested her in beauty school.

My sister is the first one who took the leap into becoming a cosmetologist. I was unsure if I wanted to do it. My aunt pushed me by saying I had a good opportunity. I took a leap of going into the industry and did what I always wanted to do.

During her program, Canales appreciates the support she received at Empire Standale.

Empire Beauty School has always been supportive, pushing you towards what you want to do. They talk with you to understand your goals and will connect you with those places. For example, if it was haircutting then they would connect you with people there. They will support you in the field that you really wanted to learn about. They helped me understand if facials were something I wanted to do.

There were times when Canales faced challenges, to which she persevered through to complete her program.

Going through the whole process and overcoming my challenges that I struggled with overcoming like haircutting. Those challenges that you overcome and to think I was able to succeed and finish throughout the whole cosmetology program.

Canales is currently preparing for her state license exams. From there, she plans on working in the medical field performing medical facials such as chemical peels and other work under the supervision of a doctor.

I would like to thank my family and daughter for making this all possible for me.
