Empire Beauty School Shamokin Dam Student Receives Full Ride Scholarship
Alauna Jackson, Empire Beauty School Shamokin Dam Student, has been awarded with the George Bradley Scholarship. This scholarship will fully cover Jackson’s educational costs. The requirements to apply included an essay describing career goals, interests, and purpose as well as a letter of recommendation.
“This scholarship means everything to me. A million words can’t explain the amount of thankfulness and jubilance I feel. Empire Beauty School has taken me 1000 steps closer to pursuing my passion.”
Jackson began her educational journey in January 2022 when she enrolled at Empire Beauty School- Shamokin Dam and plans to graduate in August 2023.
“Being a cosmetologist opens the door to many opportunities. I want to be the artist behind the beauty, being able to make someone look and feel good about themselves is a rewarding feeling.”
Morgan Nelling, Executive Director of Empire Shamokin Dam, was the first recipient of this scholarship and had the pleasure of awarding one of her students with it.
“As the first recipient of this scholarship and her Director, I could not be happier to be a part of awarding Alauna the George Bradley Scholarship. Alauna has been dabbling in the industry for just about her whole life from growing up with her aunts in the salon, falling in love with the aromas, to making her own lip gloss line in high school. This shows just how driven Alauna is to make her dreams come true. She is passionate, loving, and focused. She is ready to take on whatever this industry can offer her. This is life-changing for her, and I can’t wait to continue to cheer her on and see how far this industry takes her!“
Jackson is focused on impacting the lives around her, choosing a career path that allows her to do what she loves. She loves the beauty industry because of the power and influence she has on those around her.
“Being able to watch a hairstyle, color, or even the slightest transformation, can boost confidence, and change someone’s whole outlook on life. I have big dreams and a bright vision for my beauty career. Being able to influence, inspire and motivate others universally through my own brand and skill that I’m passionate about.”

Empire Beauty School has given me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I’m more than grateful to have received this scholarship. I wouldn’t have expected this even in my wildest dream!“
When it became time to share with the evening students at Empire Shamokin Dam who won the George Bradley Scholarship, the staff were eager to share the surprise they had been planning. Jackson’s family traveled from Pittsburgh, PA to celebrate this achievement and present the check, announcing the scholarship, to Alauna. Her family planned for this moment for two weeks, anxious to share with the well-deserved recipient, Alauna Jackson.
When Jackson’s family appeared, cheers and tears filled the room as everyone celebrated. Jackson feels overwhelmed with emotions as she spends this memorable moment with her loved ones by her side as they share hugs, tears, and cake!
