Dalton Sellers, a graduate of Empire Beauty School in Cincinnati, became a finalist in CosmoProf Beauty Color the World competition. In order to enter the competition, Sellers shared his creativity on Social Media, tagging CosmoProf Beauty.

From there, Sellers was one of 8 finalists flown to Dallas, TX for the competition. Each professional was given six hours to demonstrate their creativity with hair color. Winning the Grand Prize, Sellers received the opportunity to be mentored by Presley Poe, an established hairstylist and one of the world’s top colorists.

“I’ve been in the beauty industry for only 2.5 years. It feels amazing to be chosen out of thousands to be a finalist in this competition. The contest helped me professionally by connecting me with other elite stylists. This gives me hope that I can become that, giving me more confidence in my work. It is not about what you win in a competition, it is who you impact.”

Once Sellers became a licensed cosmetologist, he started Dalton Studio, LLC which is located at Salon GK. To give back to current students, Sellers presents and shares his beauty experiences at our Empire Beauty School in Cincinnati. His future plans are to become a Platform Stylist and open up his own salon.

“My educator, Mrs. Karen is more than just an educator, she cares about her job and seeing her students succeed. She went above and beyond to help me graduate and pass the state board exams. She is the reason why I am where I am. All of the educators at Empire Beauty School are amazing. I like how the programs teach you about products and how to be a diverse stylist.”

What motivates Sellers is providing the best life for his 10-year-old son.

“I am a recovering drug addict. In February 2023, I will be six years clean. I am also a single father with full custody of my 10-year-old son.”

As Cosmetologists, we truly love what we do and seeing the smiling faces on each person that sits in our chair. It’s what fuels our passion and makes each day worth it.

“I love Cosmetology because of the impact you have on other people’s lives. They come in struggling, going through different things. When you make someone look good, they will feel good too. To transform someone so they can walk out feeling like a new person and feeling good again.”
