If we happen to be friends, it is my sincere hope you will snap a picture of me looking like a vogue model while sunbathing.  I’m not sure how he did it, but that’s exactly what David Beckham accomplished when he caught a little picture of Victoria sunbathing.  Apparently, if the soccer thing doesn’t work out, he can always turn paparazzi.  The couple is expecting a girl baby soon.

If you attend beauty school, you have probably been learning all about hair.  If you are considering beauty school, you’ll soon learn that hair is different during pregnancy.  Not to mention all the hair dye you can’t use.  So, as Victoria Beckham prepares to give birth, you should be prepared to conquer pregnancy hair.

For one, pregnancy hair seems thicker and more lush.  It’s not. Increased levels of estrogen, a hormone, make the growth cycle (the shedding and growing phase of hair) longer. So, pregnant woman are typically just losing less hair than the rest of us, making the remaining hair seem more full.  The down side? After the baby is born, the growth cycle of hair returns to normal. So, all that lush, full, shiny hair falls out.

Second, you might have heard the myth about prenatal vitamins helping your hair grow faster.  In fact, the prenatal vitamins don’t have super powers (so they say.)  It’s just the formula and combination that promotes hair growth.  Any old multi vitamin, along with plenty of water and proper nutrtion should have the same effect.  Laying in the sun, however, even if you’re Victoria Beckham is definitely bad for your hair. Sun has drying effects since you can’t control the temperature.  Just sayin’

Finally, when it comes prenancy hair, you might be curious about hair dye. The version used at many salons tends to be stronger than the at home versions.  You will want to ask your stylist what she recommends for you, your hair type and what you’re trying to accomplish.  Many women avoid their typical hair dye regimen altogether.  Pregnancy hair is different, too, so you might not get the colors to look the same way you had in mind.

If you have a pregnancy hair story, we’d love to hear it.  Did your all fall out? Did you take prenatal vitamins and grow a mane to make Repunzel envious?
