Orange You Ready for a New Beauty Trend?

by Empire Beauty School

I’ll admit, I groaned a little when Pantone declared “Tangerine Tangothe color for 2012. Orange is a tricky color to wear. Personally, orange makes me look like an extra on “The Walking Dead” TV show. Luckily, Tangerine Tango brought along her friends aqua, canary, peony pink, kelly green, and robin’s egg blue to make the “brights” of 2012 wearable for almost every skin-tone. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are afraid of color. You can’t really blame them, for the better part of two decades we have seen so many neutral color trends. If there is one fashion/beauty question for 2012 it is, “What do I do with this color?!”

Beauty Color Trend for 2012

In my opinion, one of the easiest ways to incorporate bright colors into your wardrobe is face-first. That’s right… I am suggesting make up. You don’t have to set the make up gun to ” Crayola” to wear bright colors; however, it is fun to try bold make-up looks, but that is for another blog. Make up gives you the opportunity to sheer or build a color to your liking. A sheer wash of robins’ egg blue eyeshadow makes eyes twinkle. A taupe colored eyeshadow on the lid with a light aqua accent in the crease or a smokey kelly green eyeliner is a great way to bring an every day look on trend. Even those who have a death grip on their brown eyeshadow cannot deny the ease of a brighter cheek or a sheer orange-pink glossy lip. Of course, we all know bright nails are an important fashion accessory. I am sure it goes without saying that nothing is hotter than a canary yellow or mint green manicure or pedicure.

No one should be afraid of trends. Trends are ideas that you individualize to bring a fresh perspective to your look. Orange doesn’t look good on everyone, but the idea of Orange- a bright, sunny color is what is important. Bring that idea to your 2012 spring and summer looks and light it up!

Tell us how you will be incorporating this tangerine/orange color into your spring and summer looks?
