Several junior and senior high school students represented by MECHA, Mercer County Hispanic Association, were greeted and given tours of Empire Education Group’s Bordentown, NJ, cosmetology school.
MECHA is an organization dedicated to the representation of the Latino population in Mercer County. The students from MECHA received information about a career in cosmetology from an Empire Education Group Career Planning Specialist, at the one-day orientation, and enjoyed beauty services from the Empire Education Group students.
According to Louisa Correa, Executive Director of the Bordentown school, the outreach program is a way to expose high school students to different career paths and to improve their futures.
MECHA was established in 1985 and offers several services such as housing, job training and employment opportunities within the community, family services, after school programs, and bilingual employment skills training programs.
