Making the Cut; Reality Show Invites Students to Audition
Celebrity stylist, salon owner and author Keith Campbell arrived at the Manhattan, NY, Empire Beauty School to offer advice and information about the industry.
As cameras rolled, he surprised the students by announcing his new reality show, The Hair Architect, and invited the students from the New York and New
Jersey Schools to audition. The Hair Architect will have contestants competing in numerous challenges to become a prestigious employee for Keith Campbell at
his New Jersey-based salon and bragging rights as the new Hair Architect.
“Keith’s visit to Empire was inspiring and motivational for our students. His message created a true reality of success for our future professionals to aspire and
model their careers after,” said Academic Director of the Queens school Laurence Nunes. Nunes will also be featured in the pilot for the show as he talks about Empire. Students from the New York and New Jersey schools who are 20 hours away from graduation and have a temporary license or have already graduated and have their cosmetology license, are eligible to submit an audition video to the
show, which will film in Montclair, New Jersey. Campbell gained recognition for his innovative talents working for celebrity clients such as Missy Elliot, Serena and Venus Williams, Ashanti, and more. High-end beauty companies such as Soft Sheen and Dark & Lovely have sought Campbell out to create styles for their
products. His new book, Cuts for our Infirmities: Pruning and Prose, is due to be released soon. Many of his looks have also been featured in publications such as Essence.
