Harrisburg Hosts Open House Event Using Caribbean Theme
It might be chilly outside in Pennsylvania, but inside the Harrisburg school’s Caribbean themed Open House event was tropical and warm. The walls were lined with nautical flags, netting and star fishes hung from the ceilings and the students and staff were dressed for a day at the beach or a relaxing cruise on the high seas. They even had a shuffle board and served refreshing slushies.
The school also raffled off door prizes every hour to guests. Among the prizes were gift bags filled with hair products, a gift certificate to Empire Beauty School and a “Day of Beauty” certificate where for a day of beauty and pampering, including a complimentary basic cut and style, a basic facial and a basic manicure and pedicure.
The student competition was dubbed 100 Years of Style as the students created hairstyles on their mannequins reminiscent of different eras over the past 100 years. Styles from the 80’s and present time were big winners.
In addition to the Caribbean themed festivities, the school also presented the YWCA Great Harrisburg a donation in the amount of $2,176.25. The beauty school adopted a local shelter which supports victims of domestic abuse and began raising funds for the shelter in October.
Local salon representatives, community leaders and prospective students from the area were taken on a tour of the school by student ambassadors.
