The NW Phoenix Empire Beauty School began their 100 Days of Empire celebration with keynote speakers such as the Attorney General and Empire CEO
and Chairman, Frank Schoeneman. Students listened as the two discussed the importance of the CUT IT OUT and Empire Gives Back programs and the difference the programs have made in the communities. A representative from the Arizona Coalition Against Domestic Violence also was on hand and accepted a donation
to Chrysalis for $2,093.25. The donation is the result of the funds the students raised during Empire’s National Day of Beauty event in October. Additionally, 50 students participated in two competitions that were judged by local salon owners. The first competition the students participated in was a prom up-do, where they also had to present a storyboard detailing their designs. The second competition was a past and present theme, which was also accompanied with a storyboard.
The competitions were a great exercise for the student preparing to
enter Empire’s Future Professionals Expo competition in May 2010. The school’s local preliminary competition to prepare for FPE begins this month, where winners will head to Hershey, PA, to compete against other cosmetology students from Empire Beauty Schools across the country. The staff and students of the school also created t-shirts for the 100 Days of Empire event, complete with large purple ribbons for domestic violence awareness. The students also performed numerous complimentary mini make overs and other beauty services to the guests attending the event.
