This summer, the lips have it!
The hottest beauty trends for the season are a dazzling array of new lipstick techniques and textures:
Ombre Lip
Think of the Ombre Lip as contouring for your pout. Use a darker shade to line and fill with a lighter shade in the middle. With this technique, you will create fuller lips without injections (but remember…blend, blend, blend, and blend some more!). Ombre lips work with any lip color or texture. Pair Ombre lipstick with a light foundation and lots of mascara for an elegant, easy look.
Glitter Lips
Glitter is everywhere this summer, and the easiest way to wear this trend is on the lips. You can go airy-fairy with a millennial pink glitter infused lip gloss, or you can go full on glam rock with a glitter lipstick or powder. Pair glitter lips with matte skin and lots of highlighter. Side Note – Don’t use craft glitter on your lips! Only use cosmetic grade glitter for your looks. Your lips and eyes will thank you!
Metallic Lipstick
The more wearable “cousin” of glitter lips, metallic lips are edgy and flattering. The must have shade of rose gold is perfect on almost every skin tone, and it will give you an on-trend tropical look. Pair these shades with bronzed skin and matching eye shadow for ultimate summer goddess make-up.
Blotted Lips
For a dreamy, romantic look skip the liner and go blotted. This look is an easy translation of the “lollipop” lip look shown at London Fashion Week. While smeared, glossy lips are very editorial, in real life, strangers would be handing you face wipes. Blotted lips are a good way to take fashion into every day. To make this look work, skip the liner and apply a less than precise layer of a light matte lipstick or lip-gloss. Pair this with a dramatic flick of eyeliner for an every day cool-girl vibe.
Holographic Gloss
This extreme iridescent gloss elevates your look into something magical. Top a coral lipstick with a holographic gloss for a sunny mermaid look, or top a dark color for your mystical moment. Pair this with your unicorn colored highlighter or super shimmery eye shadow…anything goes! Side Note – A holographic topcoat makes dark colors more wearable. If you are a little color shy, this is a great way to try vampy lipstick looks!
So don’t let those balmy days stand in the way of you and a little glamour! Let your lips do the talking, and stay fashion forward all summer long.
