Step by Step "How To" Guide to Trendy Summer Hairstyles

The ultimate girls’ guide to this summers’ hottest styles!  All styles are perfect for any face shape and hair texture!

SOFT WAVES:

How to Style:

  1. Spritz hair with a texturizing sea salt spray.
  2. Allow hair to air dry (or blow dry if you are short on time).
  3. Create a side part.
  4. Using a large barreled curling iron, curl hair in medium to large sections.
  5. Remove hair from curling iron and gently pull on curls to elongate them.
  6. Apply a small amount of styling oil to ends.
  7. Finish this style with a light mist of flexible hold hairspray.

Long Bangs can quickly change up your look and are absolutely stunning when paired with loose waves.  May require a salon visit first, I do not recommend do-it-yourself bangs!

LONG BANGS:

Getting sick of the same old long ‘do? Try adding long bangs to your style!

How to Style:

  1. Prep hair with a blow dry lotion.
  2. Begin drying hair in the bang area. Blow dry bangs using a flat paddle brush, pushing them from side to side.
  3. Using a large round brush, blow dry hair by working in medium-sized sections.
  4. Once all hair is dry, using a curling wand (or 1-inch curling iron), curl hair by wrapping it around the iron barrel.
  5. Release hair and gently finger comb through curls.
  6. Scrunch a small amount of styling paste into ends.
  7. Finish style with a light mist of hairspray.

The perfect way to keep your locks out of your face this summer is by creating a super stylish fishtail side braid.

THE FISH TAIL:

How to Style:

  1. Prep dry hair with a texturizing spray (or dry shampoo).
  2. Create a soft side part and backcomb top section.
  3. Gather hair to side and begin wrapping a small section over the outside of the braid to the middle.
  4. Keep taking small sections from the outside and bring them into the middle until you reach the ends.
  5. Secure ends with a clear elastic.
  6. Gently pull on the hair in the crown area for volume.
  7. Finish style with a medium hold hairspray.

BOHO PRINCESS:

How to Style:

  1. Prep dry hair with a heat protectant and texturizing spray.
  2. Section off crown area and set the sections underneath in hot rollers.
  3. While the rollers are cooling, curl just the ends of the crown section with a large barrel curling iron.
  4. Remove rollers and lightly finger comb through curls.
  5. Create part.
  6. Backcomb crown area.
  7. Finish style with a mist of medium hold hairspray.

Mix up your regular long curled hairstyle by adding a trendy side braid.

SNEAKY SIDE BRAID:

 How to Style:

  1. Prep hair with a texturizing spray.
  2. Using a one-inch curling iron or curling wand, curl hair vertically in small sections.
  3. Continue working in small sections until all hair is curled.
  4. Allow curls to cool.
  5. Grab hair just above the ear and create a simple French braid.
  6. Continue adding hair to the braid until it reaches the opposite side of your head.
  7. Secure braid with elastic.
  8. Flip hair to opposite side of braid and fluff to desired fullness.
  9. Finish style with a flexible hold hairspray.

THE FULL PONY:

How to Style:

  1. Prep dry hair with a heat protectant and texturizing spray.
  2. Using a large barrel curling iron, curl hair in large sections.
  3. Using a teasing brush, rough up ends by brushing lightly up the hair strand.
  4. Pull the left half of hair back into ponytail, just below the occipital bone.
  5. Pull the opposite side back and secure right next to the first ponytail.
  6. Fluff the ends of the ponytails so it appears that it is one ponytail.
  7. Touch up ends with curling iron.
  8. Finish style with a mist of medium hold hairspray.

HALO BRAIDS:

How to Style: 

  1. On damp hair, part hair from front hairline to nape of neck.
  2. Apply a small amount of styling oil onto ends.
  3. Tie off one section.
  4. Create a simple three-strand braid on each side.
  5. Wrap braid around head and secure with bobby pins.
  6. Finish style with a light mist of hairspray.

TEXTURED UP STYLE:

How to Style: 

  1. Prep towel dried hair with hair with a light hold gel and a small amount of styling oil.
  2. Create varying sized twists and diffuse hair on medium.
  3. Create a side part and backcomb crown lightly.
  4. Create a small braid with bangs and front layers. Secure braid with clear elastic.
  5. Pull hair into a low and loose ponytail, leaving the braid out. Wrap hair upwards in horizontal roll.
  6. Secure the roll loosely with bobby pins.
  7. Pull the braid around to meet the roll, and bobby pin the braid into the roll.
  8. Finish this style with a light mist of hairspray.
