First things first. I never considered myself a good salesperson and probably never will be. That being said, by stating my fondness for quality salon products, please know that I won’t be receiving any cool free gifts or fun samples in return. However, I am voicing my opinion because it’s important to share information that helps anyone learn what’s worth spending hard-earned dollars for and what isn’t. Simply put, I’m offering advice. By the way, that’s always free.
Like many smart shoppers, I began my beauty item quest as a bargain seeker. I once received catalogs for closeout cosmetics and hair products and ordered from them faithfully. There was security in buying the same product repeatedly at great prices with predictable results. I never wanted to take a costly chance on purchasing any new, expensive skin creams or shampoo. Well, that all changed once I began working in the beauty school environment.
Working alongside cosmetologists enlightened me in many ways. My eyes were opened to the wonderful world of top-notch styling tools, products, and so much more. You see, working with salon professionals established a level of trust that didn’t exist previously. I was no longer a customer being told I should buy something, but rather a partner with similar interests. Beauty school students and graduates alike spoke off the cuff about how the ingredients in specialized products work with the chemistry of hair and skin. I began to understand it all- hairstylists recommend retail items to clients because they know what will work to enhance a certain haircut, texture, or color. Think about it…why would they ruin their hard work by letting you apply harmful additives? That’s why it’s so important to make that splurge. Trust your stylist; you’ll be happy you did.
Still not convinced? Here are a few more reasons to take that leap of faith to top-shelf beauty:
Value: Yes, you read that correctly. There’s actually value in spending more for a high-end salon shampoo or hairspray. The reason is that the ingredients are not fillers, but rather premium recipes of vitamins, oils and soothing nutrients. A small amount is all that’s needed to deliver satisfying results. An added plus is that you no longer need to keep shopping (and wasting money) trying to find that miracle product. As for better beauty tools, the initial expense is offset by endurance. Professional brand blow dryers and flat irons are sturdily built to last, produce head-turning styles, and utilize time-saving technology.
Beauty: That’s what it’s all about, after all. We buy hair, skin and nail cosmetics in order to improve our appearance. Using prime ingredients chosen by experts in the business can really enhance features. The varieties of items targeted to treat problem conditions are seemingly endless, eliminating trial and error purchases. Ask an esthetician or stylist for a makeover, or some samples of products recommended for your complexion and hair color. You’ll see the difference and never turn back.
Self-Esteem: When you look good on the outside, you feel it on the inside. There’s a pleasure also brought on by treating yourself to something special that’s admired for being first-class. Your confidence kicks in, and people notice. Now isn’t that worth it?
