We’ve seen enough celebrities with bangs lately to believe that we should rush out to the salon immediately. But, not everyone can pull off bangs—or a’fringe’ as bangs are known outside of the United States. Even with trends, different cuts work better than others for your face shape.
Bangs do take extra work; very rarely (if ever) can you roll out of bed with them in the perfect place. Bangs look great on celebrities, and there’s a reason for that; they rarely appear in public without spending time on their appearance.
Bangs also require a monthly trim. You need to make time for this to happen.
So, at the very least, you need to commit to your bangs. If you don’t want to commit, you should probably pass this look by. If you still want to take the plunge, make sure you consider the best looks for your face shape.
Taylor Swift’s blunt, straight bangs look best on oval faces. If your face is on the short side, or you have a very angular jaw, you will want to find another cut.
The thick, full bangs frequently worn by Kim Kardashian accent cheekbones well (which we all know is Kim’s secret). If you have a round face, this is a terrific option for you. A gentle slope on the corners is the trick to keeping this look from becoming too harsh.
The sweeping look worn by Reese Witherspoon is perfect for her heart shaped face. It also works well on square faces and those with shorter foreheads. After all, the sweep helps to draw attention towards the eyes and the away from the angularity of the forehead.
Emma Stone’s feathered bangs that slip into the hair work well for most faces. This look is halfway between bangs and long layers and perfect if you’re not sure that you are ready to commit. Just make sure the bangs are cut with layers that fall easily without too much styling.
