Square faces are defined by square jawlines – and that’s the most important thing to consider when choosing a new haircut. Your hair should both complement and soften the jawlines and cheekbones. Luckily for you, there are a lot of options at your disposal.
You can easily get away with hair above your shoulders, but it’s going to look best if the front is a little more angular and a little longer than the back. These lines cut across the jaw to lengthen it.
Center parts will enhance the squareness of the jaw with most cuts. Your best best is almost always a side part – whatever the length.
Layers that fall into your face will accent all the front features while covering the back corners of your face. With this haircut, you’re framing the canvas of your face beautifully.
Square faces are often steered away from bangs, but you can definitely work them into your look if you want them. Opt for lower bangs that almost touch your eyes. You’ll also want to push them to one side; have them cut so the ends are longer than the center, or choose an angular cut.
And, if you want to rock a short haircut, make sure it’s quite voluminous, as it will lengthen your face rather than making it appear more square.
