Studies show that makeup does make us more attractive to others. But, and this is a big but, it probably doesn’t make as big of a difference as we think it does. Often, too much makeup can jeopardize that increase in perceived beauty. Yikes! Now, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t indulge; you certainly should – especially if it makes you feel good. But, it does mean you can get away with a little less most of the time. Aim for makeup that makes you look as though you’re not any wearing makeup and you’ll be spot on.
Moisturizer is a must every day. (You’ll pay for it later if you avoid this step!) Instead of working with a clear moisturizer, use one with a little tint to help even out skin tone while still looking perfectly natural.
A light cream blush will make you look rosy rather than made up. You can often get away with a light powder blush, but the cream variety tends to look more natural.
By all means, you can stick to your curler, but there’s no harm in adding a small amount of mascara. The trick to working with a single coat? Work deep into the lashes, near the roots. When dry, use a clean wand to brush away any clumps.
You may not need eyeliner as much as you think you do. But, if you really cannot go without it, skip the black liner and apply a thin line of brown or natural looking liner. If you can, try to decrease your dependence on eyeliner; it’s a giveaway that you’re wearing makeup.
A sugar scrub on your lips will give them a light plump as well as smoothing them. Healthy lips are key to pulling off a no-makeup look, so don’t skip this step.
Never add lipstick when you’re trying to pull off a no-makeup look; stick to your favorite gloss. Feel free to use a light tint, but clear works wonders too.
