State College, PA, Empire Beauty School Recognized for Efforts
The Centre County Chamber of Commerce, welcomed guests and other local attendees were on hand for the State College, PA, Empire Beauty School’s Celebrating Mom open house event.
The students and staff presented a check to the Centre County Women’s Resource Center in the amount of $522.42. The money was raised during the school’s participation in Empire Education Group’s National Day of Beauty–a one day of beauty event that raises awareness and funds for local domestic abuse shelters.
Dee, a representative from the shelter, was overwhelmed with the students’ generosity and grateful for their hard work to raise money and give back to the community. The Centre County Chamber of Commerce also praised the students for their efforts in giving back to the community.
In addition to the check donation to the shelter, the students of the school continued their open house event with tours of the school, refreshments and a busy salon floor where moms and other guests were treated to complimentary beauty services.
The students also hosted a makeover competition. Students were asked to bring in their mom’s or anyone who inspires them–some students brought in their mom, while others brought in their sister or a best friend. The students were asked to give their guest or “model” a complete make over. The models were able to choose any hair service such as hair color, highlights, or a hair cut. The students completed their models’ new styles with makeup applications.
The event was a success and a fun-filled day for all!
