Mothers Inspire Future Beauty Pros at Williamsport Campus
The Williamsport, PA, Empire Beauty School donated funds to their local adopted shelter, enjoyed refreshments, offered local mothers who visited the school with beauty services, and showcased two incredible stories of mothers inspiring their children.
The local domestic abuse shelter, YWCA of North Central PA-Wise Options, accepted the beauty school’s donation of $2,208.58. The money was raised during the school’s participation in Empire Education Group’s National Day of Beauty event in October.
In addition to giving back to their local community, the students and staff of the school also gave back to “mom.” Students whose mother’s attended the event, as well as local mothers who visited the school, enjoyed free beauty services and tours of the classrooms. Two particular students shared their stories about their mothers and how they inspired them to pursue careers in cosmetology by attending Empire Beauty School.
Student Jennifer Nottingham invited her mom, Christel Hamman—a 1985 graduate of the Williamsport school, to come in for services for the school’s open house. In honor of her mother’s inspiration and support, Nottingham treated her mom to a scalp treatment and a facial. Student Nick Trimble was inspired to attend the Williamsport beauty school when his mother, a 2010 Williamsport Empire Beauty School graduate, gave him encouragement to pursue a new career. Prior to Empire, Nick was attending school to earn his degree in Information Technology. While his mom was attending Empire, she told him everything she did while in school and told him she knew he would really enjoy it. He enrolled and hasn’t looked back. Nick will also compete in the Junior Stylist Stars and before he graduates this year, he will also compete at Empire’s Future Pro Expo in the Women’s Cut and Color Competition. Nick’s mother also competed at Future Pro Expo.
