Pottsville Beauty School Kicks Off Celebrating Mom Event
The Pottsville, PA, Empire Beauty School proudly kicked off the start of Empire Education Group’s national Celebrating Mom open house tour on Monday, January 10, 2011.
As the doors opened for local mothers in the area, students were encouraged to have their own mothers and other members in their life who inspire them to come in for salon services. In turn, the students could get closer to their required salon hours. Each mother that came in the door was offered refreshments, a complimentary mini manicure and a corsage. There was also a color competition for the students, in which each student had to create a unique hair color and style on their mannequin. The competition was judged by alumni of the school.
The Pottsville school also presented a check to the Schuylkill Women in Crisis center, their local adopted domestic violence shelter, in the amount of $4,602.22. The shelter was very appreciative of the donation and explained to the students that the donation came at a great time—as they are currently working on expanding the shelter. The shelter representative, Sally, loved the open house idea and could relate to celebrating mothers, “As a mother of four I understand celebrating mom. Some of us have people in our lives, other women and even men who are like mothers to us and even my own children have people in their lives who are like a second or third mother. So to all the moms and non moms who play the role of a mother, I thank you.”
The Celebrating Mom open house welcomes the public to bring in their mothers or anyone who inspires them to follow their dreams for a free mini manicure, refreshments and to tour the beauty school. Attendees are also invited to meet the school’s cosmetology educators and watch the students in action, learn more about Empire’s CLiC curriculum, tour the classrooms and Student Salon, and meet with a Career Planning Specialist to possibly start planning their education at an Empire Beauty School.
