While beauty professionals drive fashion, these days, social media is where a look really takes flight. Influencers can make or break a trend, and sometimes take the idea to a whole different level.
1.) Scrunchies
This once maligned hair accessory is finding its renaissance on Instagram. #scrunchie has over 72,000 posts and influencers like Caitlin Patton (@caitpatton) have been spotted wearing scrunchies in a girly, yet sophisticated way. The bonus? Scrunchies are extra gentle on hair and keep your hair waves from being wrecked.
2.) Drunk Blush
Yes, it could have a better name, but the serious flush some people get after drinking too much prosecco is the trend for blush this spring and summer. This look is achieved with a touch of cream blush on the apples of cheeks blended out with powder. For a great example of this, check out Aryanna Epperson’s Insta (@aryannaepperson.)
3.) Yellow
Social media looks quite sunny these days with bright yellow eclipsing millennial pink. This color looks to be huge for prom as well as nail art, and #yellow has over 31 million posts on Instagram. This color may be tricky to pull off, but it can seriously brighten the dreary spring most parts of the country have been having.
4.) Freckles
#Freckles has over 2 million posts, and it is growing. The natural foundation that allows your true skin show is hot right now. Once considered a “flaw” they are now being rightly celebrated. No freckles? No problem! There are tons of tutorials on how to fake these adorable little spots.
5.) Blue Eyeliner
Blue cat eye eyeliner is everywhere on Instagram. Even celebrities like Bella Thorne have been sporting this edgy, but easy look. Swap out your sleek black cat eye for something little more electric.
