Empire Beauty School Presidential Leadership Award Presented to Lancaster Student

Yolanda Shriver is set to graduate from Empire Beauty School-Lancaster, PA in June of 2017.

A mom of 3, this 30 year old Lancaster woman has always loved beauty and decided it was time to do something for herself.

When she started school, she needed to enroll her youngest son in daycare. She decided to take him to a local church with a daycare program. It was there, after months of picking up her son and noticing the parking lot always full of people, that she found out about the church’s weekly meal program for homeless and needy families. Yolanda, asked if she might be able to offer complimentary haircuts during the meals. The church agreed and for several months, Yolanda has been volunteering once a month, cutting hair at the church free of charge.

Yolanda is the first recipient of our Presidential Leadership Award. She received the award from Chairman & CEO, Frank Schoeneman, and President & COO, Christopher Wargo, at March’s Town Hall Meeting in Pottsville.

Yolanda told her story to the Home Office Staff and you can see how emotional she felt giving back to her community even after the hardships she had to overcome in her life. We were all truly inspired by her. Even, Frank Schoeneman had a few tears in his eyes as he honored Yolanda for the amazing gift she is giving others with her free haircuts.

Congratulations Yolanda on your efforts and we are proud of the work you are doing in your community.

You can read more about Yolanda’s story in an article that her local newspaper did on her. – http://bit.ly/EmpireStudentGivesBacktoHerCommunity
