Empire Student Wins $10,000 Scholarship

Empire Beauty School student Vanessa Rivera has a lot to celebrate. This Avondale, AZ future professional has won a $10,000 Vidal Sassoon Scholarship through the Beauty Changes Lives campaign.
Rivera is just one of 10 cosmetology students in the country to win the award.
The Vidal Sassoon Professional Beauty Education Scholarship Program is designed for prospective and newer students.
Competition rounds are each Spring and Fall. Each competition awards ten winners with 50% of their program tuition costs covered at a qualifying cosmetology school (up to $10,000).

“Winning the Vidal Sassoon Scholarship means to me that I can continue to set the right example to aspiring stylists everywhere, and that no matter what your background or where you come from, YOU can make your dreams come true.” says Rivera. “When you are having a bad day just find one positive thing out of all the negative ones and you’ll find happiness each day.”
The Beauty Changes Lives Foundation, established by AACS, celebrates the rich and rewarding careers in beauty and wellness and helps to make dreams come true with scholarship opportunities for those looking to pursue and further develop a career in beauty & wellness.
To date, BCL has raised over $3 million in cash and in-kind donations and has awarded over$756,000 in scholarships for basic and advanced cosmetology, nail, and massage therapy education programs.
