It’s the time when everyone is looking to make a change, and many people are searching for a new look in the New Year. Since it is awards season, all eyes turn to Hollywood for inspiration. The 2014 Golden Globes and Screen Actors’ Guild Award red carpets were packed with fresh hair and make-up that is surprisingly wearable for any occasion.
Here are some Tinsel Town ideas to transform your everyday look:
Hair
Messy Up-do’s – Stars like Julia Roberts opted for softened versions of structured up-do’s. The result is a casually stunning look that is both formal and edgy. Another hot look was the lower side-bun, as seen on Zoe Deschanel. A softly curled side bun (often called the “Model Off Duty” bun) adds retro-glamour without too much fuss. These styles can easily be adapted for every day-elegance.
Braids – Sarah Hyland’s milkmaid braid and Amy Adams Braided bun are sure to be among the most requested prom looks. However, these looks can give a boho touch to a casual dress or jeans and a t-shirt.
Textured Hair – Hair that was once straightened into submission now flows with natural texture. Reese Witherspoon’s shattered bob has an elegant swing that works in the boardroom as well as the dance floor.
Slick Hair- This look is a “real-world” translation of the wet hair runway trend Emilia Clark’s asymmetrical bob or Hayden Panettiere’s slicked-back pomp are quick, easy, and right on trend.
The Crop – Led by Jennifer Lawrence, starlets (and a certain beauty bloggers) are opting for chic and edgy shorter cuts.
Make-up
Strong-Brows – Beautifully defined brows, and little else, graced a lot of famous faces. This look is definitely not for the shy, but it ads focus to the eyes and cheekbones.
Getting Matchy- What can I say? Fashion is fickle. We have been told, for so long, not to be so “matchy”, but coordinating red lipstick to a red dress, or blue eye shadow to a blue top brings a certain vibrancy. Just that simple pop of matching color can transform an entire outfit!
So, whose look will inspire you to make a change? Are you as daring as Natalie Dormer (she shaved off half of her hair- and looks AMAZING) or will you go for a softer, textured look. How will you make over your self this year?
