Beauty in Nails for Fall/Winter: What’s the new Trend?

During the summer months we are so eager to get our manicures and pedicures keeping our nails all polished and looking beautiful. But as the cold weather starts to approach we begin to see the nail polish wearing off. C’mon how many of you out there still have the same polish on your toes since the end of September??

The winter season is one of the best times to pamper yourself with manicure and/or pedicure. This is the season your nails are at the weakest point and need that extra attention. They become so dehydrated between going from hot, dry air indoors to freezing temperatures outside causing them to split, break and chip.  A great way to prevent this is try to keep your hands and nails hydrated by applying hand cream daily plus massaging generous amounts of cuticle oil to your nail beds and around the cuticles.

Just as hair and fashion trends change each season so does the color of polish. So what are the hot trends in nails for this season?

Metallics

Looking to add glam to your everyday look?  Metallic polish will give you that added sparkle  and shine to enhance the finishing touches.

Dark Colors- Greys, Greens, Blues 

Colors that are very close to black are very popular for colder months like the dark greens, navy blues, and greys.

Nudes and Beiges

Neutral colors are great for those who want to keep it simple, especially for work and school. The cool thing about it, you don’t have to worry about matching your nails with your outfit.

Half Moon Manicure

The half-moon manicure, also referred to as the “reversed french” manicure, is created when the circular moon shape of your nail bed is painted in a contrasting shade to the rest of the nail. You can get very creative with different color schemes and sparkles. Many celebs are sporting this edgy new trend.

Magnetic Polish

In the spring and summer we saw the crackle and shattered polishes but now for the fall we have a new gimmick polish that uses magnets.  Yep, you read it correctly magnets. So how does this work?  The polish contains an iron powder which comes with a magnet embedded in the cap. You apply a coat of the polish to each individual nail, then hold the magnet over your nail to get a rippled effect. Check out the below video if you want to see exactly how it works?
