You are all going to have to face the fact that summer is one good cold snap from being over. Fall is coming, and so is the dizzying roll-out of new looks. Bright and sunny looks make way for deeper, richer colors and we trade in our sandals for boots and tweed. It is tempting to go out and purchase every new make-up pallette and hair accessory that you see ( and hey…I still may), but so many of the summer looks can be adapted so you can be on-trend for the fall.
-Coral/Orange Lipstick- A coral or orange lipstick was a wise investment this year. This color isn’t going anywhere any time soon. To change it up for fall, fill your lips in with a darker brown color and top it off with your summer brights. This will give your lips the added depth that will be the hallmark of this upcoming season. Fall is also a great time to play mad-scientist. Mix your orange color with a darker, warm brown lipstick, add a little gold gloss and create a color that rivals any changing leaf. You could also create a orange stain with a little lip balm that will work well with the smokey eyes of the season. A smokey purple eye look with a lightly stained orange look is unexpected and beautiful.
-Bronzer- We all used a bronzer this season to give us a glow without the damaging rays of the sun. Everybody nod your head…you all wore sunscreen, right? For the fall, use your bronzer as a blush or a contour to your brighter colors. A light application of bronzer on your cheeks won’t compete with the deep red lips that will be popular.
-Bright Eyeshadow-This is another trend that is here to stay. For Fall, mix up the colors and make it intense. The latest application technique is the butterfly look, which pairs a neutral with a diagonal swath of the brightest bright you can handle. Don’t forget to use a primer!
-Metallics – Use your metallics in unexpected ways this fall. Wet a metallic gold eyeshadow and hi-light a cat eye. Use a silver metallic to highlight the inner corner of your eye when wearing a smokey, matte grey eye look. Top off your red lipstick with a hint of gold gloss.
-Light Foundation- Falls skin is a little bit matter, and while you may not want to throw your BB cream out yet (seriously, how amazing is BB cream?), you are going to want to top it off with a little translucent powder to give your skin that ethereal finish that will be everywhere this fall.
–The Braid and Pony – The messy braid was heaven-sent in the season of humidity. Nothing looked fresher than a loose fish-tail braid. You can take those braiding skills into fall, but you are going to want to add a little pomade to your routine. This season’s braids and pony tails are sleek and sophisticated.
With a little ingenuity and know-how you don’t have to say good-bye to last season’s favorites. Using your artistic and professional skills you can be up to the minute without breaking the bank.
