Chrysalis, an anti-domestic violence shelter in the Phoenix area, was presented with twice the amount of funds from the Northwest Phoenix Empire Beauty School during the school’s Celebrating Mom event. The students and staff raised $4,398.20 for the shelter during National Day of Beauty in October.
The students were excited about the amount they raised since it was double what they had presented to the shelter last year. Jodie Weisenberg who accepted the check on behalf of Chrysalis told the crowd, “Thanks to you all for raising such a significant amount of money for Chrysalis! You are really making a difference in our community!”
Besides the check presentation, the Northwest Phoenix students and staff also hosted a fashion show for all the guests and those who inspire them such as their moms, friends and other family members. The teams for the fashion show were composed of three students and each student had a different task—hairstylist, makeup artist, and model.
The students decided to revolve their fashion show theme around “Love” since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Students were dressed from head to toe in their best pink, white and red fashions for the show with elegant makeup and up-dos.
The students and staff also offered tours of the school, free beauty services throughout the day and refreshments for invited guests.
